Space-based Japanese role-playing game for PC users

Anachronox is a space-based adventure game which exhibits anime-style characters and environments. It was released in 2001 and since this time, it has been a very popular choice for fans of first-person shooters which offer rich storylines. One unique quality of this game is that it displays a mixture of eastern-and western-style graphics, so there is indeed something here for everyone. More than 50 hours of white-knuckle excitement await those who are up to the challenge.

Gameplay and Plot

Anachronox is an alien planet found close to the center of the known universe. It is the responsibility of the player and his (or her) allies to discover whether or not a rumor that an evil force is attempting to destroy the galaxy is true. However, this is no easy task. The user will have to interact with several built-in characters and not all are genuine in regards to their intentions.

Other Unique Attributes

The player will traverse different galaxies, do battle with alien hordes, unlock hidden secrets and discover upgrades from level to level. It is said that there are no predictable outcomes and therefore, Anachronox can be a great game for anyone who enjoys solving a mystery. This is a single-player game and 0.9 gigabytes of hard drive space are required.

PROS

  • Outcomes are based off of the choices of the players themselves
  • The game offers a unique synergy of eastern and western graphics

CONS

  • The graphics could appear to be somewhat dated
  • This game is not compatible with smartphones
